Linksys Router WRT54G Setup : Step-By-Step Guide

Many find execute linksys router WRT54G  setup quite demanding to implement. Routers, are g networking gear that have their software and hardware to redirect and send within network . Physical LinkSys Router Setup:

Although different types of LinkSys routers might vary, the typical design for the setup is fairly identical for all of them.
  1. Hook up the antennas to the router (for wireless routers).
  2. Connect the Ethernet cable of the broadband internet provider's modem to the port tagged "Internet" or "WAN" on the Router.(In most cases situated at the rear of the Router)
  3. Connect an additional Ethernet cable into the available ports (commonly numbered 1,2,3,4, and so forth.).
  4. Then plug the opposite end of the cable into an Ethernet port on your computer.


WAN & Local Area Network (LAN) IP Configurations
  1. Turn on Linksys Router.:
  2. By using UTP cable that's been provided connect the cable to the pc or notebook computer while on the router plug to the LAN port.
  3. Set the Ip address on your pc / laptop to DHCP. You will in most cases get Ip address readily of your Router.
  4. Next view the Ip address obtained by the pc / laptop computer.
  5. Using a browser, type in the ip address of the gateway computer (commonly your router's standard IP is : 192.168.1.1).
  6. You should be subsequently prompted by a window that asks for an access to the router. The standard user name and password are admin.
  7. Next , On the Internet Connection Type select DHCP or Static.You should first seek advice from your Internet service provider to know which selection to pick out
  8. In case that you happen to be linked to the internet using a static IP in that case , you will need to type in the static IP Address your Internet service provider assigns you. Netmask, Gateway plus DNS yourself.
  9. Then Save Settings.
  10. At this point all cable-connected computer clients have already been connected to the internet

Configuring Wifi Connections

  1. Navigate to Wireless Menu. Wireless network will have to be in Mixed mode to support both wifi b and g
  2. Change the SSID settings according to your preferences.Please note that SSID needs to use lowercase , and additionally change spaces with underscores to avoid some circumstances where some devices that are unable to handle wifi receiver.
  3. Set Wireless Channel to default, except in cases where you're linked to other wifi / hotspot networks Save Settings.
  4. At this point all all computers within the networks have been connected to the internet.You have just executed Linksys WRT54G setup as Internet Gateway .
